2011 NSF Summer Bridge Program for ECC STEM Students
 

The NSF Summer Bridge Program is a part of a National Science Foundation grant awarded to Essex County College.  We are looking for motivated students who plan to major in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

 

-          Free tuition to earn up to 7 college credit hours

-          Free textbooks

-          Free lunch

-          Free T-Shirt 

-          Free mentoring/tutoring/activities

 

* If you are accepted into the program and you choose to participate, then you must pay a non-refundable registration fee $50.

 

The program runs during the Summer I Session (May 2 to June 20) in the Center for Technology building on the ECC Main Campus in Newark. The program runs Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 AM to 2:20 PM (and first two Friday). The program begins with a two-hour math class (MTH 100), followed by a one and a half hour activities session. The activities include mentoring/tutoring/invited speakers/field trips/STEM projects. In the afternoon, students take an introduction to engineering class (ENR 100).

Eligibility:

 

The NSF Summer Bridge Program is a selective admission program. To be eligible, the following requirements should be met:

-          Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

-          Must be an Essex County College student

-       Must major in a STEM discipline (majors provided in Division of Engineering Technologies & Computer Science; Division of Math & Physics; or Division of Biology & Chemistry)

-          Must obtain “C” or better in MTH 092 to take MTH 100

-          Must obtain “C” or better in MTH 086 to take ENR 100

 

* Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee being selected to the program.
